Here are a couple of videos made for Talent-Egg as I provide them with advice on getting organized and staying organized!

My top tips for students on getting organized:

Use what you have at home because money is tight.

Get rid of your junk drawer.

Have a system.

What are the key signs that you’re getting disorganized?

When you’re embarrassed to have company over, that’s key.

When you can’t find your keys when you go to leave.

When you have nothing to wear.

These things all mean that you’re feeling disorganized and you’re not feeling good about it. Life gets overwhelming and as soon as you get organized you’ll feel much better!

There’s a big difference between cleaning and being organized. When you clean, things will become messy again in 3-5 days but when you’re organized everything has a home and it stays. Get organized, get rid of the clutter, have a system and you’ll be on track! Watch more here …

My top tips to staying organized are:

Less is more

Shop at home

Don’t take stuff just because it’s free

Understand what you have

Label everything and get organized from the beginning

It is important to start small and block off some time to organize. You have to have a system in place because if there’s a system in place, the task won’t seem so daunting so start today! Watch more here …

So many people mismanage their storage and living space by holding onto empty boxes. Empty boxes eat up usable space, then clutter and disorganization begins. Perhaps it began before? Anyway initially there is the logical reason for holding on to the box such as a purchase of an item and the thought of returning it. Therefore the need to keep the original packaging. Another famous reason for holding on to the box is for one day that you will move you would use the original box.

So here is the truth as I know it . By the time you move, you either don’t possess the item anymore or the item is broken. But guess what, you kept the dusty box. And for those of you who kept the box while you were deciding to keep the item or not. The warranty had expired 2 years ago. But guess what, you still have the box.

When you move you”ll get new boxes and packing materials for your items. So please get rid of those boxes and make room for the items you need to keep and store.

Happy Organizing

Imagine the possibilities of a clutter free home. Imagine yourself being able to find what you need effortlessly. Imagine having a home and place for everything. Imagine the feeling of peace and relaxation you will have sitting your serene space.

I finally had the opportunity to see “The Secret”. Little did I know that the laws of attraction plays a huge roll in organizing.

I have been saying for years to my clients that when organizing like goes with like and then a system is created. For people who have clutter corners, like goes with like as well and then that system of creating clutter is infectious.

If you stew about the mess, clutter and your chaos, then that is what you will continue to get. However if you start believing and dreaming of the transformed space, that changes will begin!

So dream what you desire, feel your emotions like you have achieved it already, and be open to receiving the gifts. You deserve it.

Can’t find your keys again?

You have looked in your purse again and again, checked your pockets at least a dozen times, you have checked the garbage just in case, moved around your papers to see if they are hidden, checked your coat pockets several times, looked around the floor as maybe they dropped. Then you might check the car, or maybe you left them in the front door. You are frantic and have back tracked your steps- still no keys. If this sounds uncomfortable and painfully familiar, know that you are not the only ones. The disappearing act of the keys is very frustrating and can cost you time, energy, money and stress. There is a solution that works, and that is to create a designated area, that is completely clear of clutter, that is in your daily walking path inside your home. You need to create a specific intentional home for the keys such as a basket, plate, bowl, jar, bin, saucers, peg board or drawer. Then you have to practice thirty times, coming in and out of the home utilizing your new system for the placement and removal of your keys. With this newly aware behaviour and pattern change you will always know where your keys are.

Let me when you find your keys. PS, misplacing your keys in most cases doesn’t mean you are going insane.

calmness and serenity has resurfaced

After all the hoopla of the holidays, calmness and serenity has resurfaced_ Ilove that! Many organized enthusiasts ask me when is the appropriate time to put away the Christmas decorations. I have to laugh because although I have organized 100’s and 100’s of Christmas bins, boxes, storage area and tangled lights- I don’t celebrate that holiday, so my answer is practical. January 7th seems reasonable.

The main thing is that when you start to pack up your holiday memorabilia and decorations ensure you don’t pack up things you not longer use. Edit as you are packing up, store like with like and labeling each box. Do that now and you will be very grateful next Christmas season. A tip for storing lights for next year… cut a firm piece of cardboard from a box, square or rectangular in shape, then start wrapping the lights neatly from one end to the other.

Good luck packing up and beginning this year with one step at a time, one foot in front of the other.

To be inspired and to inspire!

Many of you have a vision of a better existence, yet lack the motivation, stamina, instruction, direction and know how. By creating a vision board, this will be the first step in your journey to the better life. Start by dreaming of everything you want, let those dreams have purpose.

For example if you dream of wearing a pair of designer jeans, figure out if its because you want to be lean and healthy and want to fit into them,or if its that you want to have abundance and the jeans represent a certain type of financial status, or if you having a great date and want to look and feel good. You are getting the idea, be pure with your intention.

Sometimes we are stuck and dreaming of what we want is difficult or impossible. This is because we have an inner belief that tells us, we are not worthy, or good enough, or we will never get that. Being aware of that negative talk will help you curve your thoughts. Know that you do deserve the best and you are more than good enough. As soon as you can conscientiously change that inner talk to positive glory. THAT very moment is when you change the blue prints to your life.

This is what I want you to try, get a few magazines that interest you, and start clipping out images that appeal to you. For example, a couple in love, a clutter free home, an organized closet, a pile of money, jewelery, fit people, a family at the dinner table smiling, delicious food, a piece of art, nature, animals, nightclubs, serenity on the beach. Whatever gets your mojo going.

Then get a large surface area such as a piece of bristle board, and start strategically placing all the trimmed images. Know that this newly created vision board and your rewiring of your inner talk will give you the undeniable life you desire and deserve.

Sending you all love and peace. Now get to it and start dreaming.

Apparently 4% of the population suffers from the condition called Hoarding. I know 75% of my clients do. When people meet me and ask what I do, they are quick to come up with a story of a friend, relative, client, patient or themselves who has an unimaginable space filled with stuff. And of course it’s not unimaginable to me at all, as that’s what I help people with every day.

I honestly get upset when people judge hoarders in a derogatory way. People who judge simply don’t understand the issues which are severely complex. Even while I watch any number of those hoarding shows, I find the participants are being exploited not helped. Many of the “experts” are exploring the issues rather than combating them. And although not all cases can be solved, I know from my experience that if someone is seeking help for the problem they are more open to pushing through the hard issues to get to the other side and success and a better life is possible.

To combat hoarding is truly a huge undertaking and can be an enlightening and painful process. There are many other serious issues associated and attached to hoarding. Some of these are financial, mental, shopping addictions, drug addictions, depression, health, family, abuse and the list goes on. It is very sad and although I am not a psychologist, I am truly sympathetic to these people and their condition. And after working with them for nine years, I have the experience and foresight to get them where they need to go through a process of guided questions and working with them one on one. My clients take a vested interest in their personal success and fully participate in their process by taking ownership of their decisions of their possessions.

My team and I start with a complete respect and understanding of their vision of positive intention. Then we work from there with guided questioning towards their vision. And if items are obsolete and don’t fit into the plan we orchestrate an exodus for them. Whether is garbage, goodwill, sale, or storage. Hoarders who are in recovering mode are faced head on with their fears. They are feeling secure that this one bigger than them undertaking, is now obtainable with the support and guidance from our trained team. Many of my clients have had their friends and or families do a mess intervention, which was disastrous. This was because most friends or family don’t understand the psychology behind the illness and although they mean well they unknowingly disrespect the hoarders’ belongings, feelings and intentions. Judgment and resentment come into play with that approach and the space will returns to its jungle like state or worse in no time. My recommendation to a hoarder is to either to seek professional help with a physiologist or psychiatrist and to definitely hire a professional organizer and team that are well experienced in hoarding projects. Bottom line is there is help if you seek it and life can change for the better.

Women often complain that they have nothing to wear and can’t ever find anything in their closets. So as a result they shop. Either buying items that they already have but can’t find or items they really didn’t need.

One of the common excuses “I just had to buy it, it was so cheap, a great sale.” And some say women do that just to satisfy an emotional craving and later to experience buyer’s remorse.

Here are ten steps to love your closet and the clothes in it:

Declutter using clear bags for charity

Sort

Organize your wardrobe

Change your hangers

Group your clothes into categories

Ensure hangers and clothes are all facing the same way

Go through fashion magazines and tag the looks you like

Create the looks you love using items in your closet

Re-work your pieces

Try on every piece of clothing you are keeping to see if they need any adjustment.
