We have all been waiting for that rainy day to organize our home. Luckily its raining all this weekend, Yeah! Lots of time to declutter and organize. Start with removal garbage and items you no longer need or use. Take the bags out asap. Start feeling liberated. Take charge and and reclaim your space. Happy Organizing!

Dont Keep Those Boxes!!!

So many people mismanage their storage and living space by holding onto empty boxes. Empty boxes eat up usable space, then clutter and disorganization begins. Perhaps it began before? Anyway initially there is the logical reason for holding on to the box such as a purchase of an item and the thought of returning it. Therefore the need to keep the original packaging. Another famous reason for holding on to the box is for one day that you will move you would use the original box.

So here is the truth as I know it . By the time you move, you either don’t possess the item anymore or the item is broken. But guess what, you kept the dusty box. And for those of you who kept the box while you were deciding to keep the item or not. The warranty had expired 2 years ago. But guess what, you still have the box.

When you move you”ll get new boxes and packing materials for your items. So please get rid of those boxes and make room for the items you need to keep and store.

Haiti and Donations

As my heart goes out to the people in Haiti and I sit behind my computer, thinking of what I can do and how I can help? I know money donations are of the utmost importance and I donated and urge everyone to donate aswell no matter how small or big.

Second to that as you declutter your excess clothes, plates, canned goods, linens, be generous. There will be a time soon that a Haiti donation drop off will be open for your kind donations. So start that process today to be ready for your excess to be well received and aprreciated.

Like with Like

Imagine the possibilities of a clutter free home. Imagine yourself being able to find what you need effortlessly. Imagine having a home and place for everything. Imagine the feeling of peace and relaxation you will have sitting your serene space.

I finally had the opportunity to see “The Secret”. Little did I know that the laws of attraction plays a huge roll in organizing.

I have been saying for years to my clients that when organizing like goes with like and then a system is created. For people who have clutter corners, like goes with like as well and then that system of creating clutter is infectious.

If you stew about the mess, clutter and your chaos, then that is what you will continue to get. However if you start believing and dreaming of the transformed space, that changes will begin!

So dream what you desire, feel your emotions like you have achieved it already, and be open to receiving the gifts. You deserve it.

Packing up after the Holidays

After all the hoopla of the holidays, calmness and serenity has resurfaced_ Ilove that! Many organized enthusiasts ask me when is the appropriate time to put away the Christmas decorations. I have to laugh because although I have organized 100’s and 100’s of Christmas bins, boxes, storage area and tangled lights- I don’t celebrate that holiday, so my answer is practical. January 7th seems reasonable.

The main thing is that when you start to pack up your holiday memorabilia and decorations ensure you don’t pack up things you not longer use. Edit as you are packing up, store like with like and labeling each box. Do that now and you will be very grateful next Christmas season. A tip for storing lights for next year… cut a firm piece of cardboard from a box, square or rectangular in shape, then start wrapping the lights neatly from one end to the other.

Good luck packing up and beginning this year with one step at a time, one foot in front of the other.
